Core Principle: EXOS Wayfinder is an offline-first, zero-telemetry tactical navigation system. Your GPS coordinates, breadcrumb tracks, and marked waypoints never leave your physical device. We do not operate tracking servers, we do not profile users, and we do not sell personal data.

1. Introduction & Developer Identity

This Privacy Policy governs the EXOS Wayfinder Android application (package: com.exos.wayfinder) and the companion EXOS-GPS hardware ecosystem operated by EXOS GPS ("we", "us", or "our"). For privacy inquiries, contact us at exosgps@gmail.com.

2. Permissions & Data Collection

EXOS Wayfinder requests only the minimum permissions essential for mission-critical off-grid navigation:

Precise & Approximate Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION): Required to determine your real-time geographic position, calculate bearing and azimuth to targets, compute magnetic declination, and power the 3D tactical compass dial.
Foreground Service - Location (FOREGROUND_SERVICE_LOCATION): Required when the user actively engages Expedition Backtracking or Guardian SOS Mode with the screen turned off or while switching applications. This ensures hikers and overlanders do not lose their breadcrumb return path in hazardous wilderness environments. A persistent notification is always visible when this service is running.
Bluetooth & USB Hardware Access (BLUETOOTH_SCAN, BLUETOOTH_CONNECT): Required to discover and ingest raw NMEA-0183 telemetry data from the companion external EXOS-GPS Puck or external GNSS sensors.
Device Sensors (Magnetometer, Accelerometer, Gyroscope): Used entirely on-device to power the 50Hz dynamic compass heading and the tactical 3D spirit leveling bubble.
Camera & Photo Metadata (Optional): Used only if you choose to import a geotagged photo to extract EXIF coordinates and plot a target waypoint. No photos are uploaded or shared.

3. Data Storage & Retention

All waypoints, tracks, calibration offsets, and expedition logs are stored locally on your device within a private SQLite database. You have 100% control over this data and can export, reset, or purge all waypoints and trails instantly within the app settings.

4. Third-Party Sharing & Analytics

We do NOT embed third-party advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or data broker libraries. Crash reporting and basic telemetry conform strictly to Google Play’s anonymized developer vitals.

5. Children’s Privacy

Our software and hardware products are not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

6. Changes to this Policy

Any updates to this policy will be posted on this page (https://exosgps.com/privacy) with a revised effective date.
